Creative Photos

While having time to play in his chosen career is infrequent at best, Brian has acted on thoughts of inspiration and the ‘what ifs’ that life sometimes brings. One of these inspirational ‘what ifs’ lead to the first light painting that Brian created a few years ago with Associate Professor Eric Wilson, from the UBC School of Music, which ignited a flurry of creative sessions using this same technique with a number of clients.

Lighting a set with a flashlight can be a lot of fun. The results of which are light painting, which creates an air brush or painting-like ‘feel’ to the captured image (see Image #17 – “Light Painting05″ of an Indian motorcycle saddle bags).

The captivating fiery effect in Image #12, “Vaporized” was shot by using a hand-held 30 second exposure at night of a cherry tree in bloom. “Intense Heat” (image #29), the second flaming tree in the Creative series, is of a 6 inch shrub reflecting street lights beyond using the same technique.

The images loaded on this webpage are only a small sampling of creativity, but the results of using different forms of light have produced prints that are uniquely captivating and fascinating, if not indeed interesting at the least.

One of the perks Brian gives his clients is the option of learning the light painting technique, so if you’re interested, please contact Brian to schedule a seminar – either private or with friends.
